Fall High Point Market: A Little Drama, A Lot of Detail

If Fall High Point Market reminded us of anything, it's that the smallest details can make the biggest impact.

This season, we were drawn to rich colors, beautiful textures, and thoughtful upholstery details that made familiar pieces feel fresh again. From tailored skirts to exposed wood accents, there was plenty that caught our eye.

Rich Color Isn't Going Anywhere

Deep greens, chocolate browns, burgundy, and saturated blues were everywhere, and we couldn't have been happier.

We've always believed color gives a room personality, and this Market was a beautiful reminder that bold doesn't always mean bright. We loved seeing deeper hues layered with warm woods, patterned fabrics, and unexpected pops of color.

A raspberry velvet ottoman paired with a blue sofa? Absolutely. It's those unexpected combinations that make a room interesting.

Texture Makes the Room

Velvet, leather, woven textiles, and beautifully grained woods brought warmth and dimension to the spaces we saw.

We especially loved the mix of materials: soft upholstery against exposed wood, classic stripes paired with florals, and rich velvets layered with natural textures.

It's a look we've always embraced at NPI. A room should feel collected over time, not like everything was purchased together.

A Little Trim Goes a Long Way

One of our favorite takeaways from Market was the attention to upholstery details.

Skirted sofas, chairs, and ottomans were making an appearance, but with a fresh perspective. Think tailored skirts, contrasting banding, decorative welt, and just the right amount of embellishment.

We also loved seeing exposed wood framing on upholstered chairs and carefully placed nailheads that added character without overwhelming the piece.

These details may seem small, but they're what take a beautiful piece of furniture and make it feel truly special.

A Little Whimsy Never Hurt

And because we believe great design should always have a little joy, we couldn't leave out one of the sweetest details we spotted at Market.

One designer created a special little spot for her four-legged companion who couldn't make the trip. Complete with a striped canopy, patterned dog bowls, and a few charming accessories, it was a reminder that the most memorable spaces are often the ones that don't take themselves too seriously.

After all, shouldn't our homes reflect everyone who lives in them?
