High Point Market: Bold Color, Bespoke Lighting, and the Art of the "Soulful" Home

I’m back from High Point Market, and if I had to sum up the vibe for 2026 in three words, they would be: Bold, Bespoke, and Brave.

At Nancy Parrish Interiors, we have never been fans of the "safe" beige box. This season, the design world finally caught up! The showrooms were a technicolor dream, proving that homeowners are craving personality more than ever. We’re moving away from interiors that look like showrooms and toward homes that feel like soulful collections.

Here’s what is landing on my mood boards this week:

Grandma Core meets individual artistry

The Power of the "Color Pop"

If you know me, you know I live for a vibrant moment. This Market was an explosion of electric citrus, hot raspberry, and cobalt blue.

Pro-Tip: We are embracing maximalism with a sophisticated edge. Pictured, a saturated raspberry sofa anchored by bold Chinoiserie wallpaper and paired with fluid, organic-shaped tables. To ground the look, a soft lacquer sideboard—though, trust me, the visual impact of that high-gloss finish is anything but "soft." It’s about creating a conversation between texture and tone.

So much impact in a small space!

Lighting as the "Main Character"

Lighting is often called the jewelry of a room, but for 2026, it’s the whole outfit. The trend toward extreme customization in lighting was everywhere, and it’s something we are leaning into heavily at the studio.

Custom Colors: Why settle for brass or black? We are now seeing lighting fixtures in custom powder-coated colors. Imagine a chandelier in a soft pink or a floor lamp in a punchy coral.

The Parrish DeLapp Touch: My favorite way to add instant "wow" is through the lampshade. We’re taking customization a step further by using our own Parrish DeLapp fabrics to create bespoke pleated and tapered shades.

Note: Putting a bold, patterned fabric on a classic shade is the ultimate "designer secret." It softens the light while adding a layer of pattern that ties the whole room together.

Saturated Neutrals & Unexpected Details

Forget flat grays or stark whites. The "new neutrals" are deep, saturated, and incredibly sophisticated. We saw walls and upholstery drenched in cognac, hunter green, and midnight plum, but also a shift in how we use softer tones.

The Look: Imagine a luscious cream sofa set against a bold neutral backdrop. It creates a striking contrast that feels both modern and timeless.

A New Way to Blue: We are seeing soft blue acting as a gorgeous, versatile neutral. It’s the perfect base for high-style details—like the swivel dining chairs I spotted featuring leather fringe. It’s that perfect mix of "pretty" and "edgy" that keeps a dining room from feeling too formal.

The Elevated Touch: To take it to the next level, we are obsessing over custom upholstery details. Whether it’s an unexpected contrast welt, bespoke tufting, or that perfectly placed fringe, these artisan touches are what transform a standard piece of furniture into a one-of-a-kind heirloom.

I can hear the conversations and laughter now!

What we bring back from High Point isn’t just inspiration—it’s intention. A clearer vision of how to layer color, texture, and detail in a way that feels timeless, personal, and deeply livable.

If you’re ready for a space that feels collected, considered, and truly reflective of you, we’d love to begin that conversation!
