One Room Challenge - FINAL REVEAL

It’s THE FINAL REVEAL!!!!

Wow has this been an exciting journey!!! The One Room Challenge has been such an amazing self reflection of just what can be accomplished when you put your mind to something!  Not only has it pushed me physically, but also mentally in nudging me to put myself out there in actions and words!

As stated in the beginning, I am not a blogger.  This is my very first attempt.  I have no idea how many people actually read it, (hopefully if you did you got a chuckle), but It was quite therapeutic.  Will I quit my day job??  No, but it was good!

So on with the reveal!!

Here it is yall!!  My Foo La La Powder Room!

I love it so much!

Let’s break down the deet’s…. (yes I’m cooler now..)

Starting with the builder basic half bath, I knew the walls needed some jazz.  Just so happens that our Parrish Delapp Foo La La Wallpaper in Metallic Grasscloth was just the tune! (ok..that was cheesy..(do people still say that?)..can you put a parenthesis in parenthesis)).. The design is so super fun, but the texture is absolutely incredible!

This Wall Hanging is AMAZING!!

Next, the pedestal sink had to go!  Can’t like it..won’t like it..no no no.  (Did I just make a song??)  I’ve had my eye on this custom Richelite sink for 2 years now, and KNEW that would be in the design. Not only is the design a work of art, the fact that it’s made of compressed paper and used as a sink, my mind is still blown.  Y’all I’m very sensory driven.  I totally am drawn with my eyes, then touch, then smell.  Everything must meet those criteria.. If it doesn’t, then meh…  Well not this time!!  This sink meets it all!!

So of course I couldn’t display this art on some ordinary cabinet!  That’s like putting Renoir on the back of a toilet.  After a trip to my local stoneyard, I found my vessel!!  This Panda Marble!!  So much interest that fell right into place.  After sketching, erasing, sketching, erasing… I designed the perfect artistic solution for the small parameters of the space.  The waterfall edge not only adds that unexpected element, it also draws your eye away from the toilet which was the first thing you saw when you entered.  Blah…

So with all of that, I had to go one step further with the Swan faucet.  After all, the design of the sink looks like a bird bath so it just fit!!  I get it’s not for everyone, but I’m not designing for EVERYONE!  I’m designing for ME.  That’s how you do it folks.. don’t worry about everyone’s opinion.. BE YOURSELF!

Finally, I had my amazing electrician cap off the traditional wall sconce and install a ceiling mounted box to hang my light fixture from the 10’ ceiling.  I love the dazzling glow that the bubbled glass shade gives about the room.  Then up goes the mirror and voila!!  It’s Done!!

So after all this, I’m ending this Happy Hour with a big smile and a huge feeling of accomplishment.  Thank you to Linda Weinstein for creating such a wonderful event that fosters community and allows everyone to GO FOR IT!!  The next ORC will be in the Spring and perhaps you would like to enter??!!
